今回は、病院でよく使う医療英語「医療物品編」をご紹介します。

これは、私が医療通訳資格試験勉強をしていた頃に調べたものです。

看護師さんや特に医療機関勤務未経験の医療通訳士に分かりやすいように医療物品をまとめてみました。

用語の説明も日本語と英語で書いています。

これが絶対正しいわけではないので、

オトスコープ、耳鏡：otoscope

耳の中を見る器械

It is a device used for looking into a person’s ears.
It is a tool used to look inside someone’s ears.

大人用紙おむつ：adult diaper, incontinence briefs, adult briefs

乳幼児以上の体格の人が着用するためのオムツ

It is a diaper made to be worn by a person with a body larger than that of an infant or toddler.
It is a diaper designed for adults who have difficulty controlling their bladder or bowel movements.

カテーテル：catheter

医療用材料で作られた細い管で、病気の治療や外科手術を行うために体内に挿入する医療器具

It is a thin tube made of medical-grade materials that is inserted into the body to treat a disease or perform a surgical operation.
It is a thin tube inserted into the body to help with treatment or surgery.

鉗子（かんし）： forceps

手術や医療行為の際に使用する器具（引っ張る、保持する、回収するなどの際に医師が使用する）

ガーゼ：gauze

傷の手当てに使われる薄いネット状の素材

血圧計：blood pressure monitor, sphygmomanometer

人の体を流れる血液の力を測定する器械

It is a tool that measures the force of blood flow through a person’s body.
It is a device used to check how hard the blood pushes in the body.

血圧計のマンシェット：blood pressure cuff

ゴムなどの素材でできた医療機器で、患者の腕に巻いて膨らませることで血圧を測定する

It is a medical device that wraps around a patient’s arm and inflates to measure blood pressure.
It is a soft band that goes around the arm and gets tight to check blood pressure.

駆血帯（くけつたい）：tourniquet

静脈や動脈を流れる血液を止めるためのバンド

It is a tight band used to stop the flow of blood through a vein or artery.
It is a band that squeezes the arm or leg to stop bleeding.

車椅子：wheelchair

車輪のついた椅子で、病気やケガ、高齢による問題、障害などにより、歩行が困難または不可能な場合に使用する

It is a chair with wheels used when walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury, age, or disability.
It is a chair with wheels for people who can’t walk easily.

顕微鏡：microscope

小さなものを拡大して観察する器械

It is equipment that makes small things appear larger than they are.

粉ミルク：formula, baby formula, infant formula,

乳幼児に与える食品で、通常、粉末を水に混ぜて哺乳瓶で与える

It is a food for feeding babies and infants, usually prepared by mixing powder with water for bottle-feeding.
It is powder mixed with water to feed babies from a bottle.

小児用おしっこパック：urine collection bag for infants

赤ちゃんの性器にフィットするように片側に粘着テープがついたビニールの袋

It is a plastic bag with a sticky strip on one end, made to fit over the baby’s genital area to collect urine.

さく乳器：breast pump

授乳中の女性が乳房から母乳を抽出するために使用する器械

It is a mechanical device that lactating women use to extract milk from their breasts.

酸素マスク：oxygen mask

鼻と口に装着し、酸素を供給する器械

It is equipment that fits over the nose and mouth and supplies oxygen.
It is a mask that helps you breathe in oxygen.

試験管：test tube

血液などの液体を入れ、キャップをして保管することができるガラス製の円筒

It is a glass cylinder that is filled with blood or other liquids and can be capped and placed in a storage area.
It is a glass tube used to store liquids like blood.

消毒液：antiseptic

皮膚の表面を殺菌（洗浄）するための液体

It is a liquid used to sterilize (clean) the surface of the skin.

シリンジ：syringe

針を取り付ける円柱状の筒で、液体を入れることができる

It is a cylinder-shaped piece that attaches to a needle and can be filled with liquid.

診察室の仕切り：privacy screen

大きな部屋を医師と患者（診察の場）に区分けするために使用される仕切り

It is an object that is used to separate the doctor and patient (consultation area) from others in an open room.

診察台カバー：table and head-rest paper

診察台やヘッドレスト（枕）の上に置いて、菌が広がらないようにする紙

It is paper that is placed on an examining table or head-rest to prevent the spread of germs.

伸縮テープ：elastic tape

片面が粘着性のある薄いロール状の伸縮素材

It is a thin roll of stretchy material that is sticky on one side.

舌圧子：tongue depressor

口腔内や咽頭を検査するために舌を押さえる道具

It is a tool used to push down the tongue to allow for examination of the mouth and throat.

体重計：scale, bathroom scale

体重を測定する器械

It is a tool used to measure a person’s weight.
It is a tool that tells how much a person weighs.

体温計：thermometer

体温を調べるための器械

It is an instrument used to check a person’s body temperature.
It is a tool used to measure how hot or cold your body is.

聴診器：stethoscope

心臓や肺の音を聴くための道具

It is equipment for listening to a person’s heart and lungs.
It is a tool used by doctors to listen to your heart and lungs.

点滴固定シーネ：IV splint, IV pediatric splint

新生児・小児患者の点滴ルート固定のため、手または肘を固定するために用いるシーネ

It is a splint to immobilize hand or elbow for easy installment and retention of IV lines in neonatal and pediatric patients.
It is a splint used to keep a baby’s hand or elbow still for IV treatment.

点滴スタンド：IV pole, IV stand

薬や液体が入った静脈内バッグを所定の位置に保つための器具

It is a device that keeps intravenous bags full of medicine or fluid in place.
It is a tool used to hold bags of medicine or fluid for IV treatment.

点滴バッグ：IV bag

液体で満たされた袋で、この液体を体内に投与するために使用する

It is the pouch that contains liquids to be pumped into a patient’s body.
It is a bag with liquid used to give medicine or fluids to a patient.

ドレッシング材：dressing

傷口にかぶせて保護し、治癒を促し感染を予防するもの

It is a protective covering that is placed over a wound to promote healing and prevent infection.
It is something used to cover a wound and keep it protected.

ナースコール：call button

病院のベッド周りにあるボタンで、患者さんが助けを必要としていることを、看護師などの医療スタッフに遠隔で知らせる

It is a button found around a hospital bed that allows patients to alert a nurse or other health care staff member remotely of their need for help.
It is a button that lets patients ask for help from nurses.

配薬カップ：medicine cup

プラスチック製計量カップ（アメリカなどの病院で配薬時使用されるカップ）

It is a small plastic measuring cup (a cup used for drug distribution within the hospital in the U.S.).

バイアル：vial

液体を保存するための小瓶や容器（注射剤を入れる容器の一つ）

皮下注射針：hypodermic needle

採血や投薬の際に使用する、皮膚を刺す先の尖った金属片（シリンジについている）

プロテクター：apron, x-ray apron, protective x-ray apron

身体の放射線感受性の高い部分を保護するために設計されたエプロン

包帯：bandage

出血、腫れ、感染を防ぐために傷口にかぶせる布

It is a cloth covering that is placed over a wound to prevent bleeding, swelling, and infection.

包帯ばさみ：bandage scissors

包帯を切るための道具

It is a tool used to cut bandages.
It is a tool for cutting bandages.

視力検査表：eye chart

視力検査に使われる、大小さまざまな文字、言葉、数字の組み合わせの表示

It is a display of letters, words, and numbers in various sizes used to test a person’s eyesight.
It is a chart with letters, words, and numbers used to check how well you can see.

ランドルト環：Landolt C, Landolt ring, Landolt broken ring

視力測定に使用する視力表で、リングに隙間があるため、アルファベットの「C」に似ている

It is an eye chart for measuring visual acuity, characterized by a gap in the ring that makes it look like the letter C.
